Austin DeSanto, Exeter

It took one of the greatest wrestlers in state history to spoil Exeter junior Austin DeSanto's perfect season.DeSanto won his first 50 bouts before losing to Franklin Regional's Spencer Lee in the PIAA Class AAA 120-pound championship bout. Lee, a three-time state champion who has not lost a high school match, ended DeSanto's season with a 50-1 record.Along the way, DeSanto piled up some impressive numbers, winning his second straight Berks County and District 3-AAA titles. He also won titles in the Saucon Valley Invitational, King of the Mountain Tournament and Conestoga Valley Holiday Classic.DeSanto had 26 technical falls and eight falls, helping Exeter win its first Berks championship and earn its first win in the PIAA Team Wrestling Championships during a 22-5 season.

Nick Tomczyk, Exeter

A year after battling injuries throughout the season, Nick Tomczyk was healthy — and it showed.The Exeter junior won a league championship and then a silver medal at the district meet to qualify for the PIAA championships for the third straight year.Tomczyk, who averaged 287.16 points for his best five six-dive scores, won the Central Penn League title with an 11-dive score of 554.10 points. He had finished third the previous two years.He followed that with a runner-up finish at the District 3-AAA championships, his silver medal-winning score of 471.80 points representing a 67-point improvement over his fifth-place finish a year earlier.  Tomczyk also qualified for the PIAA championships for the third straight year and had his best showing there with a ninth-place finish. -
