Aaliyah Linfoot's shot smacked off keeper Mia Corbacio and rolled to the stick of a wide-open Peyton Halsey. The Exeter junior felt equally excited and afraid.

"I was about to drive it," Halsey said, "but I was afraid I would miss. So I just nicely hit it in. It was very scary."

Halsey's fear quickly evaporated as her shot found the back of the cage, giving the Eagles a 2-1 overtime win against Berks Catholic in a BCIAA field hockey quarterfinal thriller Saturday at Twin Valley.

Exeter (12-6) advances to face Oley Valley in Monday night's second semifinal at Gov. Mifflin. The Lynx routed Schuylkill Valley 9-2 in the first quarterfinal game Saturday at Twin Valley.

For the Eagles, Saturday's win put some shine back into a season that lost much of its luster the past few weeks. Exeter won eight of its first nine games, then dropped five of its last eight before Saturday, missing the cut for the District 3 playoffs in the process.

"We've had a roller-coaster ride season," Eagles coach Lisa McCoy said. "All season, my girls have showed a lot of resilience. They battled back today."
