ALLENTOWN, PA - The Eagles continued to run the gauntlet of their grueling schedule, facing off against some stiff competition once again at the Parkland Duals. Exeter squared off against perennial powerhouse programs such as Parkland and Northampton, as well as formidable opponents Delaware Valley, Souderton, and Saint Anthony's (NY). On the day, the team would walk away with a 2-3 record, posting wins against Souderton and Saint Anthony's, while dropping a close 2-point loss to Parkland.

The Eagles opened the day with a loss to Northampton's Konkrete Kids by a score of 43-30. Despite the scoring differential, Exeter saw impressive wins from Dennis Karas (SR, 220), Ryan Crane (SR, 285) and Gage Moran (SR, 152) who all won by fall. John Harrell(SR, 182) and Alex O'Neill (SR, 145) contributed with wins by decision, while Michael Crane (SR, 195) received a forfeit.

Perhaps the most entertaining meet for the fans was the Parkland Dual which came down to the final bouts, as Exeter came up just short losing by a score of 32-30. The match started off with the teams splitting the first two bouts as Chris Matthews (JR, 132) dropped a close 5-3 decision, and Chase Guldin (JR, 138) brought the Eagles back with last minute heroics in an 8-6 win in the waning moments of the bout at 138. Parkland would run off 5 straight victories, including bonus point victories by a fall and technical fall, to push their advantage to a 20-point margin. Exeter's upper weights would run off 5 straight of their own with a pair of falls for Michael and Ryan Crane, a decision from Jacob Keller (SO, 113) and forfeits to Dennis Karas and Patrick Borja (FR, 106). The run would put Exeter on top by a 30-23 margin before Parkland took the final two bouts of the meet by a decision and fall.

Undeterred, the Eagles bounced back against Souderton with a convincing 48-29 victory. Winning by fall for the Eagles were Matt Ward (SR, 160), Dirk Amole (SO, 170), John Harrell, Dennis Karas, Ryan Crane and David Wentling (SR, 120). Jevin Guldin(FR, 106) and Jacob Keller rounded out the Eagles scoring receiving forfeits.

Momentum carried through to the dual against Saint Anthony's - a perennial Catholic powerhouse out of New York. Starting out at a 14-0 deficit, the Eagles stormed back winning 9 of the remaining 11 bouts. Ward, Harrell, Michael Crane, Karas, Keller and Chase Guldin posted falls for the Eagles while Ryan Crane and Matthews won by forfeit and injury default, respectively. Jevin Guldin saw his first action since the opening weekend, coming off injury, to delight the Eagles' Faithful with an exciting 16-14 win that featured some big moves from both wrestlers. When the dust settled, the Eagles had a lopsided 51-26 victory.

After a long day, Exeter would meet their final opponent, Delaware Valley. The matchups didn't fall in the Eagles' favor, as they came up on the short end in 9 of the 14 bouts. Winning for Exeter by fall were Moran, Michael Crane and KarasMatt Ward added a major decision while Ryan Crane won the war of attrition in a 1-0 bout at heavyweight. Ultimately, the Eagles would be disappointed in the 42-25 loss, losing 4 swing bouts by a total of 7 points.

The upperweights were dominant as Dennis Karas and Ryan Crane would go 5-0 on the day, with Michael Crane posting a 4-1 record. Karas, who has only one blemish on his record this season, would win 4 bouts by fall and one by forfeit. Karas was not only dominant, but efficient as well spending just over one period total on the mat with falls in :47, :31, :44, and :29. Exeter will return to the mat at home on Wednesday, January 10 against cross-town foe Wilson at 6:30.
