It was an especially sweet Saturday in Hershey for Exeter senior Sammi Snyder and Wyomissing sophomore Alexandra Jadic, who brought home District 3 girls tennis singles titles.
In Class 3A, Snyder successfully defended her title, beating a pair of Manheim Township players to do so. The top seed ousted No. 4 seed Kate Moore, a junior, 6-1, 6-0 in the semifinals before ousting freshman Taylor Kopan, the No. 2 seed, 6-4, 7-6 (4) in a back-and-forth final. Snyder trailed 4-3, 5-4 and 6-5 in the second set before rallying to win in the tiebreaker.
Snyder, who defeated Moore earlier in the season in a team match, was the No. 2 player behind sister Ali last season when she won the title.
"My match with Taylor was very intense," said Snyder. "She's such a good player and only a freshman.
"I knew Taylor was a tough player from the start because I've known her since I was little. But she did surprise me because she played so well."
