Stan Cieplinski enters the Exeter Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2017

Stan will enter the Hall during a ceremony on Friday, Jan. 13th at 6:30 before the basketball game.  You can watch the event live or on the Exeter Cube site.

Stan Cieplinski was Exeter athletic director from 1996 in until his retirement in 2011.

Stan was a all-round athlete at Oley Valley High school, where he participated in soccer, basketball and track and field.

He was standout soccer player at Slippery Rock. He received his Master's degree from West Chester University in physical education.

He was an assistant manager at Antietam Pool, where he was a tennis instructor in the 70s, and owned and operated Action Tennis Pro Shop on Washington Street in Reading.

He received a second Master's degree, in Psychology, from Temple University and worked as a mental health therapist for several agencies and worked with the Reading Phillies in the 1980s.

During this time, he also coached and trained several local amateur boxers and served as the local president on the Council on Chemical Abuse.

He would coach tennis at Exeter H.S., Albright College and Longwood University. He coached soccer teams at Albright, Kutztown University (club), Germania Soccer Cub, Reading Rage and Oley Valley High School. He was head coach of the Longwood University men's soccer team from 1990-95 and was named South Atlantic Regional Coach of the Year in 1990.

Stan and Kalman Csapo began the C&C Soccer Academy upon his retirement from Exeter and, in 2013, co-founded the Evergreen Girls Soccer Club.

As Exeter AD. Stan saw through and had input in major renovations and projects that resulted in today's athletic facilities, regarded among the best  in Berks County. Stan oversaw the addition of a weight room, training room, gymnasium, upgraded baseball complex and a state-of-the-art all-weather turf stadium that would become the home field for football, soccer, field hockey, lacrosse and track and field events and later be emulated by other schools.

During his tenure, he helped introduce boys and girls volleyball, lacrosse and swimming to the school's offerings.

Stan gave full attention to all sports -- major and minor -- as a passionate supporter of Exeter athletes,  their teams and coaches.

Stan passed away July 20, 2016, at the age of 67.

A mentor to many, Stan's influence has echoed through recent generations and will continue to be felt for many more to come.
