Exeter Field Hockey Captain Maryn Hubiak commits to Central Michigan

The 2015-16 All Berks County field hockey player commits to play for the Chippewas and coach Sara Tisdale

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Central Michigan lacrosse coach Sara Tisdale announced Thursday the signing of four players to National Letters of Intent.

The foursome comprises Rachel Bould of Pittsburgh, Hannah Potter of Noblesville, Ind., Maryn Hubiak of Reading, Pa., and Sarah Chase of Northville.

"It's a small, close-knit group," Tisdale said. "They bring a lot of strength academically, they're very involved from their high school careers in their communities, which is something that's very important to us.

"On the field, they provide a little bit more umph to our program, a little bit more in terms of the legs we're looking for, to be able to run with the new shotclock in the game."

The Chippewas finished 6-10 in 2016, their inaugural season. The recruiting class is substantially smaller than Tisdale's first at CMU, when she was building the program from scratch.

"These players were highly sought-after on a high level, nationwide scale," Tisdale said. "They bring a wealth of experience. They've been playing at a very high level for a long time."

And, Tisdale added, all four should make an immediate impact.

"They've got to be able to play, they've got to be able to contribute," she said. "We don't really have time for projects. You have to have players who can come in and quickly pick up on the speed of the game."

The versatile Bould scored 40 goals with 19 assists last season at Quaker Valley High School.

Potter, who plays midfield and defense, has scored 98 career goals, including 57 last season, at Noblesville High School, where she is also a soccer standout. She was a U.S. Lacrosse All-American in 2016.

Hubiak is a two-time team captain at Exeter Township High School, where she has scored 124 career goals.

Chase scored 33 goals and added 30 assists last season while captaining her Northville High School team to the Kensington Lakes Activities Association championship, its second straight. She earned Second Team All-State honors from the Michigan Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association in 2016.
